The purpose of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is to take a proactive approach to combating crime and to assist patrol officers in addressing their Community Policing projects. The unit’s daily responsibilities include proactive street level enforcement and crime suppression in those areas where calls for service are higher. Special Investigations detectives investigate violations of laws pertaining to narcotics, gang and vice-related laws and ordinances, prostitution, and asset forfeiture. The Special Investigations Unit employs various investigative and high profile tactics to address crime trends within the city of Citrus Heights.
Combating Crime SIU is a
function of the Investigative Services Division and is under the
direction of the Investigations Lieutenant. The SIU liaisons and works
with other federal, state and local law enforcement agencies as well as
Citrus Heights patrol officers and Code Enforcement staff to combat

addition, the SIU monitors the Citrus Heights Police Department
Narcotics Hot Line. Concerned citizens wishing to report suspected drug
crimes occurring in their neighborhoods can contact this hotline at
916-727-5523. Callers can remain anonymous; however they should provide
as much information as possible regarding the narcotic activity. If you

The Special Investigations Unit consists of 1 sergeant and 4
detectives. One of the detectives is currently assigned to the Sheriff’s
Regional Gang Task Force. The hours and work days are flexible in order
to allow the unit to react to crime trends and specific operations.
