The CHPD is comprised of amazing people, from the top ranking executive staff to the newest explorer. CHPD staff is some of the most dedicated and professional individuals, and each plays an integral role in the success of our department every single day. Through their hard work and commitment to this agency and the community they serve, they have made CHPD an award-winning agency.
Every year in June, CHPD staff gather together to honor the deeds of staff and community members who have gone “above and beyond” the call of duty. Of the multiple accolades that are awarded, three stand out above the rest. The Medal of Valor, for an employee who has distinguished his/herself by conspicuous bravery or heroism above and beyond the normal demands of police service in an act displaying extreme courage while consciously facing imminent peril. The Distinguished Service Medal for an employee who has distinguished him/herself by performing well in a stressful situation which involves the threat of imminent danger to self or others by using exceptional tactics and/or judgment. The Purple Heart for an employee who has received serious or life threatening injuries sustained in the line of duty. Please follow the link below to see CHPD’s Medal of Valor recipients.
